TD 88 - 1 more week!

yesterday morning, HD and i split the session up into: (1) deadlifts and (2) a moderate treadmill run.  this training day would conclude our 3rd week (heaviest) of our 2nd cycle of 5/3/1.

deadlifts
5reps/140lbs, 5 reps/175lbs, 3 reps/210lbs, 5reps/265lbs, 3reps/300lbs, 1rep/315lbs

my suggested 6th set was 335lbs, but since i wasn't able to get 315 off the ground last week, i would be happy with that... so i PR'd!  HD was a monster as usual and hit 345lbs again... he couldn't go heavier cause his grip couldn't sustain the load.  since HD and i go to a globo gym, we're pretty sure they're not into people chalking up because there are no remnants of chalk to be found anywhere... we believe that if we had a better grip of the bar, it'd help with our deadlifts- so i've recently purchased gloves from reebok and grips from Again Faster Equipment to test out.  i also believe if we incorporated more grip strength isolated exercises into our workouts, we'd get better results.  so we'll look forward to more of that stuff in future programming.

next, moderate treadmill run
20min @ 7.5mph, 1.5% incline
total: 2.5miles, approx. 293 calories burned

running after doing heavy deads is always interesting.  got a good sweat out of it and i still enjoy LSD (long, slow, distance) here and there haha... for the CrossFit community, i know... i know...

anyways, i wasn't able to post the workout yesterday because AM, HD, TS, and i went straight from work to philadelphia (ritz at the bourse) to catch Hell and Back Again, a documentary about Sgt. Nathan Harris & Echo 2/8's deployment to afghanistan in 2009:

it shows how truly great Marine wives are and the resilience of our nation's warriors.  good film, no hollywood baloney, simple, and honest.  God bless our active duty young men and women who wear the uniform everyday of their lives, especially the ones forward in harms way, in order to protect our liberties.  without their sacrifices, my life wouldn't be what it is today...

HD and i are taking a rest day today and will conclude our final week of preparation for Tough Mudder: Tri-State 2011... the last 6 months have flew by so quickly!  i can't believe we're almost there.

get involved w/or donate to the Wounded Warrior Project
