we ended up running into TT at the gym and he joined us for the second part of our session. we split the evening into (1) overhead presses and (2) a timed workout. HD and i managed to achieve PRs again!
overhead presses
5reps/70lbs, 5reps/85lbs, 3reps/105lbs, 5reps/130lbs, 3reps/150lbs, 1rep/160lbs-30sec rest & re-rack, then-1rep/160lbs
the first 5 sets felt really strong and i thought i was going to really destroy the 6th... haha needless to say, i put up 160lbs twice, but broken. i honestly can't believe how much of a difference 10lbs makes!
next, for time
5 rounds
20 steps of walking lunges w/25lbs plates in each hand
15 bicycle crunches
15 weight situps (25lbs)
15 flutter kicks (4-count)
this metcon took a toll on my core and surprisingly my hammies. i can't explain the disparity in times, just felt really strong this evening.
results
HD: 11min 23sec
TT: 11min 27sec
DV: 7min 53sec
haha one final note, DK told me that our times for the Men's Health Urbanathlon: NYC were adjusted:
results
DK: 1h 22min 39sec (245th overall)
DV: 1h 27min 59sec (473rd overall)
excellent news! moving along, in a few hours, HD and i will tackle heavy deadlifts... ugh haha.
